Chantout is an artist who was born in 1956 in the village of Al-Sfera, located to the east of Aleppo. He made his solo exhibition debut in 1977 at the Arabic Cultural Center in Damascus, and later went on to graduate with top honors from the Faculty of Fine Art in 1980 and Beaux Arts in 1984.
