OROUBAH DIEB

Born in 1968, in Damascus, Oroubah Dieb is a Syrian visual artist who graduated from the Adham Ismael Center for Plastic Arts in Damascus in 1989 and from the Institute of Applied Arts in the Sculpture department in Damascus in 1991. From 1991-2011, she participated in the Annual Exhibition of Syrian Artists under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture. In 1997, Oroubah had a joint exhibition with three sculptors at the Ishtar Gallery in Damascus. The following year, Oroubah Dieb had a solo exhibition at the Shoura Gallery in Damascus and also won the prize of the Arab Women and Development Forum. In 2002, she participated in the Youth Exhibition at the Ministry of Culture in Damascus. And later in 2003, she created a monument at the Damascus International Fair. A year after, Oroubah Dieb opened an art center in Damascus where she conducted courses for children and adults, and also had a joint exhibition with artist Hammoud Shantout at the Art Form Gallery in Montréal, Canada. In 2006, Oroubah had a joint exhibition at the Baladna Gallery in Amman, Jordan. In 2007, she had a joint exhibition for the Basma Children with Cancer Support Association in Washington, USA. 

Oroubah Dieb was one of five artists from Syria who exhibited in Marina, Kuwait and also had a solo exhibition at the Kamel gallery in Damascu in 2009. And in 2011, she had a second joint exhibition with Hammoud Shantout at the Platinum Tower Gallery in Beirut, Lebanon. In 2012, Oroubah Dieb volunteered in art workshops with Syrian refugee children in Lebanon. The following year, she had a joint exhibition with H. Shantout at The Avenue Gallery in Beirut, Lebanon. And in 2014, she had a joint exhibition at the Lamiatus Gallery in Dubai. In 2016, Oroubah Dieb volunteered in art workshops with Syrian refugee children in France in cooperation with the American University in Paris, participated in the 100 Etablissement Culturel Solidaire exhibition, and had a joint exhibition at the Centre Cerise in Paris. In 2017, she participated in an exhibition at the Woman and Cinema Festival in Creteil, France. In 2018, Oroubah Dieb participated in the 18th Arrondissement Festival in Paris, the Exile Visions Festival in Paris, the Artists without Borders Symposium in Nuremberg, Germany, and the Saint Brieuc artistic residency in France.
